Hand me down your golden chain
With the wind
The candle lantern sways
Does nothing stay in place?
With your sin
You leave a ball and chain
Seems some things will not change
And I have not forgotten
What you hate may stay the same
But what you love will grow and change
On the beach
The lighthouse keeper stays
A flashing beacon he displays
A flash of light to keep you safe
A flash of light keeping you away
And I question
The simplicity of fate
Hand me down your way
Hand me down a broken chain
Your sin has lost its weight
Leave me free to choose my way
Some things cannot wait
